I want my child to have a relationship with her mother but when I drop her off, we two parents always end up arguing, which cannot be good for my daughter.

Research shows that the most distressing aspect of their parents’ separation is if children witness conflict. There are several options here. The preferable one, long-term, is for the two parents to find a way to work together. This may involve using the services of your local Family Mediation Service. Read “Putting Children First” by Karen and Nick Woodall (available online from the Separated Families website), which is packed with strategies for handling this situation. If you continue to have concerns about the other parent, the child can be dropped off somewhere neutral, such as with another family member or at a local Child Contact Centre. See the National Association of Child Contact Centres website and click on the FAQ section to see how to find your local centre.
