You asked on the other thread about the party. Well, 50 was a major milestone for me so I decided some time ago to have a big party. I hired a local hall and had a buffet and disco.
I had asked for "no presents" as I thought people coming along to the party (and presumably buying drinks at the bar) would be enough for them to fork out for. However, as well as various gifts, I was very touched because a group of friends clubbed together to send me the biggest bouquet of flowers I have ever seen and the neighbours joined forces and sent a donation to the Oxfam Overseas Education programme, who then sent me a card. I had planned a little speech for the night (am not scared of public speaking) but in the end, I went up, took the microphone, said "thank you all for coming" and realised that I was about to cry, bigstyle, so just rushed off again. My boys really teased me about that. The evening went by in a whirl and I wish I could relive it again, it was so nice to have so many friends there. 
I hardly slept for excitement that night!
I am sooooooo pleased that you were able to celebrate with all your friends, neighbours and loved ones, to receive lovely gifts etc. Also that the neighbours did such a marvellous thing by sending a donation. I'm sure it was all extremely emotional, hence the lack of words for the speech. By looking at photos, you'll be able to relive it all i'm sure 
I'm glad it was such a special and wonderful night for you.

What is the actual date Louise? Before your sons or after? For all that you do for us here at One Space, it doesn't feel right that we didn't get to say Happy Birthday, find out what you did on the day etc. You are so naughty not to say anything. Aw thanks guys, it was Aug 6th, I think it was pretty quiet on the boards and you were away Hazleyes.
On the day, eldest came over and we went out together, then in the evening the neighbour made me a meal. The next day I went out for a Chinese with a group of friends.
I bought some Davidoff "Coolwater"
I didn't realise it was so close to mine!
It is now in my reminder with the correct date (and year!! ).
