An 11 week course to learn traditional and modern techniques of a professional standard, whether simply re-covering or taking back to bare frame, or anything in between.  Try your hand at loose cover making, whether cushions, armcaps, or for a full chair. Use this opportunity to learn to cane. Additional costs will be incurred for any materials used during the course.

No previous experience required, but new learners must speak to the tutor before the first session – telephone 01372 458 734.
All materials, except final fabric and trimming, are available at cost from the tutor.
Please bring the item upon which you propose to work to the first session.  Any necessary purchasing will be discussed with the tutor to ensure best price.  KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.
On this course you will gain the following skills and knowledge
  • To create, from
    design inception to completion, any item of upholstered furniture of your
    choice.
  • Drawing on
    previously acquired knowledge to build a store pertinent to the subject
  • To begin to build
    a store of knowledge pertinent to the subject
  • Use suitable
    tool
  • Calculate and cut
    appropriate materials
  • Appropriate maths
  • Making good a
    frame to which any work has to be applied
  • Finishing
    techniques
