    Blackberry Farm is set within the village of Whitesmith in the Sussex countryside.  The family run farm is home to over 200 animals and wildfowl where most can be petted or fed by hand, with members of staff on hand to tell you all about them.

    The Shoreham Farmers' Market selling local Sussex produce takes place in East Street, Shoreham-by-Sea, between 9am and 1pm every second Saturday of the month.

    The market normally has around 45 stalls selling a wide range of local fresh produce and goods.

South East Organisations

9 Lives Furniture provides good quality, low-cost second hand furniture to people living in Watford, Rickmansworth and the surrounding areas. Local people generously donate their unwanted furniture and other household items, the items are then supplied to people who wish to participate in this scheme. There is a two-tier pricing system that enables people on low incomes to benefit even more.

The aim of the organisation is to work with African families, especially women and children in order to give advice, information and support on a range of issues including education, health, domestic violence, immigration, housing, employment etc.

Provides information and support services for women experienceing domestic violence throughout Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham and West Berkshire. Provides a telephone helpline (0118 950 4003) which operates between 10am-5pm weekdays - a worker can be contacted on this number out of these hours in cases of emergency and has seven refuges across the Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell and Newbury.  

Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project is run by the unemployed for the unemployed. The project provides practical support, education and recreation for people in poor housing, claimants, unwaged people and those on low incomes.

The Parent and Child service in Newhaven provides support and accomodation to young, single parents aged between 15 and 25, within the Lewes District Council area. The young people might be pregnant, on referral or already have a child up to the age of two. Meetings with young people take place weekly for one-to-one sessions.

Offers a range of childrens services for parents, includes daycare and afterschool childcare, shoppers creche, job centre plus clinic, baby massage, parent training and health services.

An Advocacy project for people with learning difficulties in Southampton and South West Hampshire, to help change things at home, school, college, work or at the daycentre and help understanding with things such as human rights and complaints procedures.

Club 4 kids provides 'Out of School' hours play and childcare which runs during term time and all school holidays, all year round, five days a week, (excluding bank holidays & Christmas). Provides services in Hastings & St. Leonards (East Sussex).

Forget-me-not families is a support group for parents and families that have lost a baby in pregnancy birth or early life in Worthing and the surrounding areas. Provides coffee & chat evenings and other supportive services.

Holiday playschemes operate during the main school holidays; children are left in the care of staff working at a centre. Playschemes are usually open daily but check exact opening hours with individual schemes.

Enables adult women (aged 19yrs+) disadvantaged by educational or social factors to progress into higher education, vocational training and employment. Full or part time basis, and the curriculum delivers a wide range of academic, professional and person £12 admission fee. Grants are available to cover tuition and accommodation costs for the majority of students. Otherwise, tuition fees are reasonable, e.g. £25 - £710. Concessionary rates apply to all students with a family income of £20,000 or less.

HomeDad UK is a support group dedicated to helping dads who are staying at home to bring up their children. They have over 500 members who are either at home full-time, work part-time or are raising kids on their own.

Maternity Action works to end inequality and promote the health and well-being of all pregnant women and their families

National domestic violence charity that works to end violence against women and children. Offers support and advice. 

Refuge available

The Princess Royal Trust Carers Service is a local charity which supports unpaid carers of all ages in Reading, West Berkshire, Wokingham and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

 Provides regular bulletins cascading information from other organisations and networks to single parents. Organises some events. Membership is free. 

 

Squirrels Educare, offer a wide range of childcare activities for children aged 2 years 9 months to 11 years.

 Pre-school   Caters for children aged 2 years 9 months until they go to full time school.  Variety of timings available between 9:00am and 3:00pm during Hampshire School Term Times.

Toys are available for babies and children up to 8 years. Membership is only £7 per year each family – free to people on income support.

Two Hands Plus is a single parent support and social network based in Chelmsford, Essex for anyone living in and around the area. Regular meetings, days out and evenings for parents.

Watford Women’s Centre is a women only space providing a wide range of activities and support for the women using it. The women are at its core, they inform both what is offered and how it is offered.
