 A. B. Mediation offer mediation services for family, divorce, residence, co-habitation, child contact and financial. Offices in Nottingham, Mansfield, Worksop, Newark, Retford, Chesterfield, Ilkeston, Derby, Lincoln and Leicester.

The Adam Project offers free, confidential support for men who are experiencing or who are at risk from domestic abuse.

Provides a wide range of leisure and support services to women and girls of African, African Caribbean, and dual heritage descent. Services include Braunstone After School Plus Club, Playgroup, Complimentary School, Youth Club, Dance and Drama, Summer holiday scheme as well as accredited training programmes in arts, crafts, language, literacy and IT.

Provides opportunities for Arabic speaking women, refugees and residents in Derby to meet on a regular basis for mutual support. Enables members to share their skills and knowledge and attend training courses. To enable parents to support their children with education and help women to build new friendships. A self help group meets at the Big Building, Surestart Rosehill, 17-19 Lowerdale Road every Friday from 1.00pm-3.00pm. Telephone - 01332 715689.  A creche is provided during courses, courses are free.

Provides services for minority ethnic communities in the inner city of Derby. Services include: general help with welfare rights, immigration, health, debt, housing and education. Has a drop in centre, arranges cultural events and social trips. Also has a volunteering project and after school project which provides support to parents and children in homework.

Supports and enables women of Asian origin to challenge discrimination and supports women victims of domestic violence to overcome the experience. Services include: Asian women group meetings which take place twice a week for socialising, discussions, talks on health issues and information (confidential) is provided and celebrating diversities and social events including International Women's Day.

BASE 51 was founded as an innovative holistic health care project based in the City Centre of Nottingham, catering for young people aged between 12 - 25 years.

The Centre opened in June 1993 as a drop-in centre offering a wide range of confidential support services and activities to meet the integrated health care needs of the young people living in Nottingham and surrounding areas.

Provides a drop-in facility  for anyone who has experienced the death of a child from beginnings to adulthood. The Group meets every Thursday (except between Christmas and New Year) from 10am until 11.30am. Children are welcome and a creche is available.

For people in Clifton, Silverdale or Wilford, the advice centre offers help and information on welfare benefits, debt, employment and more.
 

Promotes all forms of Irish culture, including language classes, dancing, traditional Irish music sessions, and regular social evenings plus crib, dominoes and darts teams.
 

Community based savings and loans services. Provides low cost loans and savings to its members who can and cannot access from banks and building societies.

Derby Women's Centre is a resource for all women, over 18, in and around Derbyshire. It aims to improve the quality of life for women in the area. Services include mediation & relaxation, self help and coffee morning drop in groups, new mum's group, individual therapies, legal advice on divorce and injunctions, numerous health projects including family planning and on site creche. Opening hours: Mondays - Fridays  9.15am — 4.45pm

FAME helps parents or relatives make decisions and settle disputes arising from the breakdown of their relationship which affects children. With mediation parents can work with the help of mediators to reach agreement on how to divide their assets and liabilities whilst concentrating on the future of their children. The first meeting with a mediator is free, Services are then offered on a sliding scale according to income.

Group open to all parents of children with ADHD and other conditions. Meets every Wednesday morning 9:30 to 11:30. Tea and biscuits included!

A community venue with a number of regular and ad hoc activities, including:
  • Job shop board
  • Education and training courses to help people back to work
  • ESOL classes (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
  • FUEL (trades, building and construction training) 
  • Evening activities for young people (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings)
  • SEND project sessions
This centre also has workers who speak various Asian languages.

Homestart volunteers, who have parenting experience, provide both emotional and practical help for a couple of hours a week. The main referrers to Home-Start are health visitors and professionals in the social care and early years sectors. Others include GP’s and those working in the fields of mental health, education and probation. Families can also self refer.

Provides facilities and support for the Indian (Asian) community . To provide good relations between different communities in Derby. Services include: Welfare rights advice, luncheon club for men and women, hall hire for parties, wedding parties, dance, keep fit classes, karate classes, religious and cultural celebrations. IT classes Mon-Fri. Visas to India for a weekly service.

Jasmine House Leicester Rape Crisis offers support to all women, aged 14 and over, in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, who have experienced rape or sexual assault, recently or in the past, or suffered childhood sexual abuse. We offer telephone support, face to face support and face to face counselling.

Jobcentre Plus provides resources to enable job-searchers to find work, through Jobpoints (touch-screen computer terminals), Jobseeker Direct (telephone service) and the Jobcentre Plus website. They offer information about training opportunities for the chronicly unemployed. They administer claims for benefits such as Income Support, Incapacity Benefit, and Jobseeker's Allowance.

Keyworth Advice Centre  provides information and advice on a wide range of matters, such as welfare benefits, housing and homelessness, redundancy and other work-related problems, consumer protection, and family issues.

Supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (lgbt) people in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.  Has a support group called 'We are Family' for parents and their children as well as providing information and signposting to other services.

The CAB offers advice on any issue; debt, benefits, housing, employment, consumer issues, relationships, family matters, health, education, discrimination, immigration and the law.

 Milton Keynes Women & Work Group provides a range of services, which are aimed at unemployed women and women in low paid/low skilled jobs, who want to gain or update skills through further education or training to better their work chances. The services offered range from courses in employment skills to self -confidence and conversation.

The CAB offers advice on any issue; debt, benefits, housing, employment, consumer issues, relationships, family matters, health, education, discrimination, immigration and the law.

Northampton and District CAB provides confidential advice services for people from both Northampton and South Northamptonshire. Advice is available on Benefits, Debt, Housing, Relationship and Family matters, Employment, Consumer issues and Tax.

Nottingham Rape Crisis Centre offers a face to face counselling session for survivors of rape and sexual violence. It also offers a Helpline where survivors can speak to a trained/training counsellors.

Every year we offer training for women who would like to volunteer for the Nottingham Rape Crisis Centre.

Run by women, for women, the centre is a city-wide community centre in the heart of Nottingham, offering a safe environment for women to: get involved in a wide range of training, volunteering, meet new people, receive counselling on a variety of topics, access in-house creche and holiday play schemes and gain access to crisis support, advice and information services. The Training, Employment and Development Project is particularly interested in supporting women who are disadvantaged and provides training courses and manages workspaces for women to start their own businesses.

Three years of hard fund-raising by Rotaract enabled the building of this wonderful centre. The local community have continued to support the development of the project, which is based at The Parks School in Oakham.

A warm welcome awaits families/ carers/ staff who have contact with children who have special needs.

The Separating Parents Project offers a range of support, both practical and emotional to help families through the difficulty of separation. This includes an Information Pack with helpful leaflets and contacts covering :

 The South Kesteven Citizens Advice Bureaux has two main offices, at Stamford and Grantham, with outreach offices at Bourne and Market Deeping.

South Leicestershire Citizens Advice Bureau delivers advice from its three offices in Blaby, Lutterworth, Market Harborough and from various outreach venues across the area. Also has outreach services located in Braunstone Town, Broughton Astley, Enderby, Glenfield and Stoney Stanton as well as a service for cancer sufferers and their families to recieve the support they need.

SPODA have been providing services to families and carers who live within the county of Derbyshire since 1998. We have been and remain one of the pioneers in developing services to address the wide range of issues facing families and carers affected by another person’s substance use.

 

 

The Community House is a community based project working with families and children. Projects include: Dads R Us - which provides one to one support and a chance to meet other fathers, parenting courses and outings with the children. A volunteering project which provides all volunteers with induction training, regular support, expenses and supervision to enable them to volunteer across SureStarts in Osmaston/Allenton. There is also a domestic violence project helping families to recover from domestic violence.  

Provides free bereavment services including counselling and support groups for both adults and children,

The Laura Centre opened in 1991

 Since opening, the Centre  has established itself as a centre of excellence specialising in  supporting parents who have lost a child and children and young people who have lost a significant person.
 
As well as working with individuals the centre offers a variety of groups and alternative therapies.

Turning Point Women’s Centre offers a variety of opportunities and services for the community.
The changing programme of projects provides a range of opportunities, offering training and personal development, family learning, support and activities. The centre aims to enable women and girls to overcome disadvantage, inequality and poverty.

The Region offers a wide range of courses for adults across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire. Classes are run through local branches, our community outreach programme or through the workplace. Our branches - 60 over the East Midlands, ranging from Matlock in the Peak Region to Skegness on the east coast - are based in villages, towns and cities such as Nottingham, Lincoln, Leicester and Derby.
