9 Lives Furniture provides good quality, low-cost second hand furniture to people living in Watford, Rickmansworth and the surrounding areas. Local people generously donate their unwanted furniture and other household items, the items are then supplied to people who wish to participate in this scheme. There is a two-tier pricing system that enables people on low incomes to benefit even more.

The aim of the organisation is to work with African families, especially women and children in order to give advice, information and support on a range of issues including education, health, domestic violence, immigration, housing, employment etc.

Andover Adult & Family Learning Centre (AAFLC)  offers families, grandparents, mums, dads, carers and children the opportunity to learn new skills in a supportive, non-threatening and friendly environment.  Also offered is free information, advice and guidance on employment and learning. We have up-to-date resources (such as leaflets, prospectuses, information packs, computer packages) to help you and can help you access the internet at certain times and locations.

Allows estranged parents and children to meet in a safe environment. Separated parents (and extended family) can meet and have contact with their estranged children in a safe and secure environment.

This service is free. Contact times are the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month 10am - 12pm.

The Children and Family Centre in Angmering is located in part of the Library on Church Hill, Arundel Road, opposite St Margaret's Church, in the centre of the village.

Provides information and support services for women experienceing domestic violence throughout Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham and West Berkshire. Provides a telephone helpline (0118 950 4003) which operates between 10am-5pm weekdays - a worker can be contacted on this number out of these hours in cases of emergency and has seven refuges across the Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell and Newbury.

Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project is run by the unemployed for the unemployed. The project provides practical support, education and recreation for people in poor housing, claimants, unwaged people and those on low incomes.

The Citizens Advice service offers practical, up-to-date information and advice on a wide range of topics, including; debt, benefits, housing, legal, discrimination, employment, immigration, consumer and other problems.

Our advice is available to everyone regardless of race, gender, sexuality, age, nationality, disability or religion.

Open 10am - 4pm - You may be given an appointment to see a specialist on another day.

The Parent and Child service in Newhaven provides support and accomodation to young, single parents aged between 15 and 25, within the Lewes District Council area. The young people might be pregnant, on referral or already have a child up to the age of two. Meetings with young people take place weekly for one-to-one sessions.

The Cedar House Support Group is for women who are experiencing postnatal depression. The group provides a safe and supportive environment where mothers can get together with others who may be feeling similar to themselves. This helps their recovery by normalising feelings and reducing the sense of isolation that postntal depression can bring.

Hastings Furniture Service provides affordable re-used furniture, electrical appliances & light removals for people on low incomes. Unwanted but reusable furniture is collected from donors throughout Hastings & Rother free of charge. If you receive a means tested benefit (incl. working tax credit) you can register directly with HFS by bringing proof of benefit with you on your fist visit to the store.  The wooden furniture store is open to the general public and we offer a full house clearance service which helps fund the charity.

The Herts Mind Network is a mental health organisation providing a diverse range of Recovery orientated services in Dacorum, South West Herts, East Hertsmere and South East Herts.

To access services you can self refer, be referred by your key worker from the mental health team, your GP or other health professional. Services and activities include: self-support group, Women's coffee mornings, anxiety management, yoga and arts and crafts. Mind offices are based in Ware, Hemel Hempstead and Watford.

This rural children's and family centre provides services through local community centres and
village halls using a mobile centre. Visits are also made to child
health clinics, pre-schools and parent and toddler groups.

This mobile services covers the rural areas around Bolney and Balcombe. This
includes Ardingly, Handcross, Pease Pottage, Sharpthorne, Slaugham,
Staplefield, Turners Hill, Warninglid and Worth.

The centre's activity programme includes:

Enables adult women (aged 19yrs+) disadvantaged by educational or social factors to progress into higher education, vocational training and employment. Full or part time basis, and the curriculum delivers a wide range of academic, professional and person £12 admission fee. Grants are available to cover tuition and accommodation costs for the majority of students. Otherwise, tuition fees are reasonable, e.g. £25 - £710. Concessionary rates apply to all students with a family income of £20,000 or less.

Home-start Thanet offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children. We offer a unique service, recruiting and training volunteers, who are usually parents themselves to visit families at home who have at least one child under five. Offering confidential, friendly but focused support to both parents and children where their individual and family needs can be met. We also offer support and guidance to young parents and now also provide additional support to women suffering or previously suffering from abusive relationships.

HomeDad UK is a support group dedicated to helping dads who are staying at home to bring up their children. They have over 500 members who are either at home full-time, work part-time or are raising kids on their own.

Horley Community Sure Start Children’s Centre has its HUB at The Bungalow in the grounds of Meath Green Infant School, and provides family support for Horley, Salfords, Smallfield, South Nutfield and Outwood.

Kent Savers Credit Union are a financial co-operative owned and controlled by our members and running on a not-for-profit basis. Our main aims are to promote saving and provide our members with loans at reasonable rates, so that they feel in control of their own money.

We consider ourselves a safer and cheaper alternative to other money lending sources, including payday loans, doorstep lenders and loan sharks, and more accessible than high street banks, who can make it difficult for people with a poor credit history to borrow money.

LONE is a group for single parents and their children if your partner has left or died, you maybe on your own - with babies, children and teenagers or you have no-one to turn to for support. Then this support group could be for you. All single parent familys welcome.  This group meet regularly once a month.

  • Provide information, advice and support on all aspects of Special Educational Needs. 
  • Can offer support with the reading and writing of letters and reports, in meetings with schools and the Local Authority and help with school visits. 
  • Can also provide access to an Independent Parental Supporter (IPS) as required.

Necessary Furniture is a charitable organisation set up to provide furniture and household goods for the disadvantaged within the community.  In addition Necessary Furniture (in partnership with the relevant agencies) provides work experience for unemployed people.  A further benefit of our work is the reduction in the volume of useable furniture entering the waste-stream and ending up on landfill. 

As well as furniture, our product range includes soft furnishings, white goods, bicycles, paint, computers, bedding, cooking utensils and tableware.

This group provides informal but structured meetings where people affected can talk to others in a friendly, non-judgmental way.

These services are for families and young people living in the Slough and Maidenhead areas of Berkshire and around High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. Services are aimed at Muslim families who often feel unable to take up help in mainstream services. By providing workers and volunteers from Muslim communities we can build up trust and confidence. We offer group work for children and young people.

The Princess Royal Trust Carers Service is a local charity which supports unpaid carers of all ages in Reading, West Berkshire, Wokingham and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

The Riverbank Out of School Club provides quality care for children between the age of 5 and 14.  We are open until 6.00pm during term time, and all day during school holidays.  We are open for 51 weeks of the year - we are closed for a week at Christmas

Southampton Women’s Forum is a group of totally committed women of all ages. They are eager to promote a positive image of women in Southampton through information, knowledge, sharing, equality, diversity, understanding, respect, reaching out, advice, support and socialising. Meetings are held once a month and other events, including training and a cookery group are held throughout the year.

 

Squirrels Educare, offer a wide range of childcare activities for children aged 2 years 9 months to 11 years.

 Pre-school   Caters for children aged 2 years 9 months until they go to full time school.  Variety of timings available between 9:00am and 3:00pm during Hampshire School Term Times.

The Sheerness Community Learning Centre helps members of the community to enhance their computer skills in a friendy, relaxed environment and where they can work at their own pace.

All computers are internet enabled and Members can use a variety of  programs, such as Mavis Beacon's Typing Tutor as well as other internet based packages.

Annual membership is just £4, computer use is 30p per hour, printing and photocopying is extra.

Finding after school childcare can be a real headache for parents when they return to work. That’s why St George’s runs an After School Club with its unique mini-bus pick-up service from some local schools depending on demand. Children from other infant and primary schools are always welcome, but parents need to arrange their own transport to St George’s.

Tiny Acorns was conceived to meet the demand in Hertfordshire for baby and toddler classes sessions which encompassed the enjoyment of bonding with your children whilst being educational, exciting and fun. 

Tools For Self Reliance is a charity which collects and refurbishes tools, sending them out to communities in need. They are keen to recruit volunteer qualified electricians and tool sorters as well as well as volunteers to help organise events. Appropriate induction and training will be provided. Other volunteer opportunities available. Open Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm. Disabled access available.

Toys are available for babies and children up to 8 years. Membership is only £7 per year each family – free to people on income support.

Tree Tops Children's Centre is a virtual centre offering a variety of services for children and families.

Trinity Winchester is a charity providing services for those experiencing the effects of homelessness or vulnerable housing, problems with substance misuse, mental health issues, poverty, unemployment and social isolation.

Floating Support Staff work to support individuals with tenancy related issues. We have a Supporting People contract, which enables us, through Hampshire County Council funding, to work with fifteen people or families and their children.

Two Hands Plus is a single parent support and social network based in Chelmsford, Essex for anyone living in and around the area. Regular meetings, days out and evenings for parents.

Holiday and after school childcare in the borough of Wandsworth.

Holiday playcentres operate every holiday except christmas and are for children aged 3 to 13yrs.  The centres open 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday.

mhs homes  employs two fully trained Benefits Advisors, who can give specialist advice and help with benefit queries. They can also help customers to challenge decisions made about their benefits and assist with back dated requests.  There is a benefits drop-in session at mhs express every Wednesday between 8:30am-5:00pm.

Our Self Help group provides a forum
where people who are affected by depression can meet to share
experiences and coping strategies with others in similar situations. We
aim to provide mutual support and understanding in a non-judgemental,
confidential environment. Our meetings are not the same as therapy
(although they do have therapeutic value) but many people find that they
gain much from the support and understanding of fellow members.
