3VYP works in Mousehole, Newlyn and Paul to empower children and young people and improve their self-esteem, confidence and well-being through a range of creative activities. The aim is to give young people opportunities they would not otherwise have.

Whether you are a Dad, a Mum, a Grandparent or Carer we welcome everyone to join in our courses, groups, activities and events.

Unless otherwise shown the age range for children that can attend these activities is from birth to pre-school age.

Offering specialist domestic violence treatment programmes for men who are violent within intimate relationships. Ahimsa also provides a women's support service for partners and ex-partners of the men on the programme.

 

Alcoholics Anonymous is an organisation where men and women can get together to share each others experiences and help to support one another. There are no fees or dues, the only requirement is a desire to stop drinking.

Join one of the small informal cookery workshops and learn to cook healthy and delicious meals suitable for the whole family. From a weaning preparation class onwards. The cost of all classes includes ingredients and participants will leave with freezable food for their child.

The Employment Projects department are the team who specialise in assisting people back into employment through volunteering. They are a team of 5 officers who geographically support the whole of the county. To support the officers is a large network of charitable and not-for-profit organisations that provide work experience placements to help restore clients confidence and self-esteem and also reinstate the working routine back into their lives.

A Bluebell Nurse will be a specialist community based nurse for ante-natal and post-natal depression with a passion for supporting mothers and families through this difficult illness. They are able to offer:

BREAD Youth Project works with young people aged 11-25 to build up their skills and confidence through informal and social education so they can fulfil their potential.

Breast Start is part of Cornwall Primary Care Trust, it aims to encourage and support breastfeeding. Contributes to local antenatal classes. Takes referrals from local health professionals. Home visits and telephone support. Can provide breast pumps on loan or at cost price.

The Brigstowe Project is a  Bristol-based charity for people living with or affected by HIV or AIDS. 

They provide floating support, together with advice and information, as appropriate to the needs of the person to improve their quality of life.

Bristol Credit Union offers low cost, ethical banking, saving and borrowing services to people in the local community and is operated on a not-for-profit basis, with surpluses being returned to its members.

Bristol Mind works raise awareness about emotional and mental health issues, and helps to reduce the stigma faced by individuals who have experienced mental health problems, and their family and friends. They provide or support a range of services that give people a voice and that promote emotional well being.  Also provided is information about emotional and mental health issues.

Bristol Samaritans provide completely confidential emotional support 24 hours a day by phone, face-to-face, email and letter and allow callers to talk openly about their worries and concerns without fear of being judged. People call on issues such as relationships, sex, love, divorce, debt, being gay, lesbian or heterosexual as well as many other issues causing the caller distress or despair. This is a Bristol based Somali Women’s group providing support and signposting service to women and their families. It helps to empower women, provide women with information to assist with everyday issues and provide information for healthy living. They work in the areas of Easton, St.Pauls, Kingsdown and Ashley Down.

Bwerani runs a monthly toy and resource loan service for children and young people aged 0-16 years. This toy library specialises in multi-cultural toys for children up to 8 years. It is also an educational resource centre for children with special needs. The library is available to individuals and educational groups.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Gloucester is a charity that provides free debt counselling for everyone, regardless of faith or religion, through a series of home visits. We provide top quality debt management and offer an effective and reliable solution to those struggling under the burden of debt. We empower people to work themselves out of debt by giving budgeting advice, contacting creditors and providing a CAP Account. Using these tools, along with readily available support, we see many people transform their finances and become debt free.

We aim to serve the general community and run various sessions evenings and weekends as well as daytime during the week that we hope to be of interest to many. We also strive to help those adults in North Somerset who do not fall into any other 'help' category. This includes those who may have experienced a mental health or other problem.  Depending upon the provider and your circumstances there will be a charge for the course. Those on a means tested benefit e.g. council tax, housing allowance, pension credit etc will be given discounts.

Cerebral Palsy Plus listens to and supports people with cerebral palsy and their families in the greater Bristol area. It listens to their needs and then develops new or existing services, or by providing financial assistance. It has an information service and can act as an advocate.

Changes Bristol is an organisation offering mental health support groups across Bristol. Anyone who suffers from mental health problems is welcome and no referral is necessary. The project offers a 12 step therapeutic programme where people can share their own experiences. There are no time limits on how long someone can come to the group and although a small donation for tea and coffee is welcomed, the service is free. Current groups in Bristol include Horfield, Bedminster, Barton Hill, Southmead and Withywood.

Together with the Somerset Children's Trust and their partners provide the first point of contact and support for children and young people between their families, schools and other agencies.
 

Chippenham Social Singles is for all unattached people wanting to get together to participate in dances, dinners, visits to the cinema, theatre, holidays, walks or just general socialising .

This is not a dating agency but it gives people the chance to go to events they would not go to on their own, and improve their social life!

We are a free Debt Counselling organisation to help people with unmanageable debt to become debt-free. The organisation over the past 15 years has helped thousands of people to become debt-free. This centre offers a wide range of family support groups for parents and children in the area.  The groups are a good chance to meet other parents and in the area with similar age children.

Get the Right Skills – Get Hired! If you are unemployed, in receipt of JSA or ESA (work related) or certain other benefits if seeking work, and signing on at either Truro, Newquay or Penzance Jobcentres, you could be entitled to free training to help you get you back to work.

Get Hired! is designed to support unemployed individuals with a personalised learning plan typically providing you with 8 weeks support. This will include qualifications, work experience, job search techniques and 1:1 support.

If you’ve always wanted to make a difference in your community, but didn’t know how to, this free community learning programme will support you to do just that.  Local Councillor? MP? School Governor? Magistrate? If you have an interest in representing your local community, learn from the people who have done so already.

Services

Free, confidential support for women and children who have been raped or sexually abused at any time in their lives. Telephone and face-to-face support sessions can be provided as frequently and for as long as required. Face-to-face support can take place at the Centre, the survivor's home or any convenient safe venue.

A variety of animals as well as a picnic site, orchard and children's play area. It's a great opportunity for children and adults to see horses, cows, sheep, donkeys, pygmy goats, chickens, ducks, pot-bellied pigs, exotic birds and rabbits. In season: lambs, kids, ducklings and calves too.

Works with fathers supporting their needs where necessary. Fathers' group meets every Friday.

Home-Start offers friendship and support to parents with young children so that every child can have a good start in life.

HomeDad UK is a support group dedicated to helping dads who are staying at home to bring up their children. They have over 500 members who are either at home full-time, work part-time or are raising kids on their own.

Many parents need help, friendship, advice or support during those early years when children are young. Homestart offers support to families who have at least one child under the age of 5. Homestart volunteers, who have parenting experience, provide both emotional and practical help for a couple of hours a week. The main referrers to Home-Start are health visitors and professionals in the social care and early years sectors. Others include GPs and those working in the fields of mental health, education and probation. Families can also self refer.
Hop, Skip and Jump is a play and support centre located on an attractive greenfield site at Grimsbury Road, Kingswood, Bristol. The Centre, designed as a giant log cabin, provides day care, supervised play for children and young people with any special needs.

Juice Community Project has been running in Cadbury Heath since 2007, and over that time has grown massively. Beginning as a signposting centre in the old pavilion on Coronation Park, we know have our own building in the old Merlin Housing offices with Newton Road shops and have projects running nearly every day of the week!

A mother and baby unit in Trowbridge for young homeless mums and organised bt Splitz. Support can be available prior to entering the house and when resettling into a new tenancy after leaving the house. Available to women, between 16 and 24 years, who are either pregnant or with a very young baby and who are facing homelessness.

Additional projects are run within the house. We run a cookery project to help the mums develop new skills to help them in their tenancy. Nutrition, cooking and budgeting are all included.

One25 reaches out to women trapped in street sex work, supporting them to break free and build new lives away from violence, poverty and addiction.

Portishead Children's Centre is situated within St. Barnabas Centre (the old St. Barnabas c. of E. V.C. School) and offers activities and groups for children 0-4, their families and the community. The opening hours are Monday-Friday 9.00am-5.00pm. There is a baby cafe, a breastfeeding group support workers and more.

REACH is a fun, family community based programme taking place in South Gloucestershire to help children to manage their weight. Families attend one session per week (1.5 hours per week for ages 4-7 years and 2hours per week for ages 8-11 years) for ten weeks.

REACH is completely FREE to families as it is funded by the NHS South Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire Council. They ask that families can commit to attending the full 10 week programme and are willing to make changes.

As an integral part of Reckleford Commmunity School we provide a "One Stop Shop" for families primarily, but not exclusively in the Yeovil East and Central wards.  Many agencies here are working together to support children under 5 and their families.The Nursery - Quality, accessible, affordable day care from 3months to school age, incorporating free nursery education for 3 and 4 years olds.

Roves Farm is a 166 hectare working, mixed, open farm situated 3 miles North East of Swindon.

There is lots of things to do for everyone, from the very young to the older generation. 

We are a Community Group that seeks to support Lone Parent families. We are a voluntary organisation with one paid Outreach Worker employed through Faithworks Wessex.

Currently we hold a Saturday Morning session once a month, with weekly meet ups in a peaceful lounge upstairs in Number 34  (formerly The Old Stables Coffee Shop, on the corner of the Job Centre), High Street, Poole.

There is access to a Beach Hut at Branksome Chine & we sometimes meet up in other places such as Poole Park.

The Sofa Project sells affordable new, nearly new and second hand furniture and household items to everyone, with further discounts available to those on low income and benefits. The project also collects items and WEEE waste from residential and commercial donors. Electrical items are checked and processed for recycling (including fridges and freezers), and where possible repaired. Every electrical item is PAT tested. The Sofa Project also provides assistance with part house and furniture clearance.

This pre-school is organised by Single Parent Action Network (SPAN) and run at Silai for Skills, will be open Monday-Friday 9am-3pm.

Parents can chose between half day sessions or full day
sessions. If they want full day sessions they will need to provide a packed lunch for their child.

Sports Unlimited offer a wide range of activities across Bristol, for children and young people. These include football, basketball, street dance and cricket.
The centre hosts a range of family based, resources and activities including: a public library, cafe, WiFi and computer access, creche and rooms to hire. Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities is a 13 week course for parents and carers who would like to increase their parenting skills and improve adult/child relationships at home and in the community.

We cover strategies for successful parenting, focusing on areas such as self esteem, life skills anger management, supporting your children at school and using community resources.

The course is FREE with free childcare, refreshments, a certificate, gift bag and voucher for those who complete.

Stroud Community Radio broadcasts to the Five Valleys of the Stroud District by ordinary people who have been trained to become broadcasters. Training is provided in all aspects of radio production. A brief induction, which takes two hours, followed by a couple of half hour taster sessions on how to operate the equipment and put together a programme.

 The SPAN Study Centre is a family based centre and works with both single parents and families with children.

The Barnstaple Children's Centres are Victoria House Children's Centre and Sticklepath Children's Centre and we are here to offer a wide range of services and support to families with children under 5.

The Churn Project is a community-based service for Watermoor, Beeches and Cheston in Cirencester. They provide a range of services for the unemployed, older people, children and families, and encourage community participation. The project runs small group courses at an entry level, providing basic confidence-building, communication and basic skills training.

.. is keen to support the development of a lone parent group offering a space for parents and children to meet - on Sundays - aimed at families living across the Kingswood, Staple Hill and Cadbury Heath areas. We can offer a local community space where you can come together with other parents + their children to run a range of activities which could include cooking, sharing lunches, board and card games, soft ball games and much more! We have two large spacious rooms, kitchen facilities, car parking and disabled access.

Local residents and agencies have come together to create a community facility. They were able to attract a range of funding and the centre was opened two years ago. It uniquely encompasses a GP surgery, Community Hall and Café, a combined Anglican and Methodist Church, a Children’s Centre, a local authority information point and library as well as meeting and training spaces. It is run by an independent board consisting of five partner agencies and six local residents.

A new counselling service for children aged 5-18, who have experienced sexual trauma including sexual abuse, sexual assault, rape or genital mutilation.

This is a service offered by Avon Sexual Abuse Centre.

The Hollow Lane Club is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children and young people with special needs and their families, by providing fun and involving out-of-school activities for the children and their siblings, after school, at weekends and in the school holidays, at several central locations.We run regular clubs in Exeter and Okehampton and support two further groups in Crediton and Barnstaple. Volunteering Bristol promotes, supports and develops opportunities for people to become involved in voluntary work.

They operate the Volunteer Centre based in Royal Oak House, Royal Oak Avenue in Bristol's city Centre. Open for drop-in between 10 am and 12 noon and 12.30pm - 4.00pm Monday to Friday, you could also ring for an appointment, or if you prefer, a more confidential interview can be arranged.

Well Aware is a free, online information resource for everyone in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset.

Well Aware has lots of information on 1,000s of health, wellbeing and community groups, organisations, activities and services. Whether personal health services, a lunch club or social group, help round the home or the garden, transport, advice, counselling or any other form of support – all you need to find it is just a few clicks away.

Wellspring Healthy Living Centre is a community building which is home to a whole host of services to help improve health and wellbeing, including a GP's surgery, dentist, complementary therapies, arts project and learning kitchen. 

 

Wellwomen Information is a Women's Health Resource and Counselling Service which helps women with physical and mental health problems.   Services include Sehatmand Aurat - The Asian Women's Health Project based at Wellwomen Information,  Confidential health Drop-Ins and Helpline and a Counselling and Psychotherapy service.

We offer free, friendly, confidential support for women and teenage girls who have suffered rape, sexual assault, incest, childhood sexual abuse, sexual harassment or any form of sexual attack, whether physical, verbal or emotional.

The Young Mothers Group Trust Ltd  provides support and housing to young parents to gain the necessary life skills to successfully sustain  independent living in permanent accommodation  and to access training and educational opportunities where this is an identified goal. Support is provided by encouraging service users to identify their own needs and aims and encouraging informed decisions and choices.  

The Every Child Matters frame work and Centrepoint’s award winning Support & Development tool kit underpin the valuable work we do.

A fun, friendly Group for young parents under 21 - teens,tots, tums, mums and dads - all welcome! Meets weekly at The Ockment Centre on Thursdays 12 pm to 1.30 pm. Free. Run by Devon Youth Service in partnership with Home-Start West Devon.
