Money saving tips
Top tips to save money.
Many of these tips you may already know, but it’s sometimes useful to remind yourself.
Always go shopping on a full stomach.
- Go shopping with cash and only spend what you’ve got.
- Write down everything you spend so that over a period of time you can monitor where your money actually goes.
- Keep a small extra float so that you have enough to take advantage of those 3 for the price of 2 offers.
- Put a curtain up behind your front door – keep out draughts, sometimes the old ways are best!
- Do not leave electrical items on standby, it means they are still using electricity.
- Check out which evening the cinema has reduced tickets (usually mid week) and see the film then – also buy popcorn and drinks in the supermarket before you go.
- Turn the heating off half an hour earlier, put a jumper on, snuggle up on the sofa under a blanket (kids love this – camping in the living room!)
- Always check your till receipt and change – mistakes are made more often than you think.
- Pub meals are often 2 for 1 early evening or mid week, also check for discount vouchers in your local paper.
- It can feel like purgatory scrimping and saving all of the time – if you are saving for something (a holiday, a new sofa, a groovy pair of shoes) put a picture of it on your fridge, it makes it all feel worthwhile and is something to look forward to.
