Confident Parenting

Welcome to the Confident Parenting Course

Parenting alone

What is Confident Parenting?

The Confident Parenting Course is for single parents raising their children alone.

Parenting is hard work, no matter what kind of family you are. We do not believe that it is harder to raise your children alone nor do we believe that children from single parent families are less well behaved others.

However if you are struggling OR if you are wondering if you could perhaps parent better, then this course is for you.

Only the best parents do parenting courses!

What will I get out of the course?

This course will support you to choose what you want for yourself and your children, look at any issues and how to overcome them.

The topics include:

  • Parenting alone
  • What we want from our parenting
  • Our responsibilities as parents
  • The rights of children and for us as parents
  • Practical and emotional development at different ages and stages
  • Behaviour and discipline techniques

What else will I learn?

By working through the activities we hope you will gain lots of ideas, tips and tools to help you become more confident in your parenting.

How long does the course take?

Since you will need time to practice we suggest that you complete a session per week over a period of 6 weeks. This will allow you to put your learning into action and reflect on how well you are doing.

Important information! Attention

You may find during this course you feel vulnerable, emotional and or angry.  It is important that you protect yourself and your emotions.

If you have any issues for yourself or a person you know during the Confident Parenting course, and you feel that you want help, you will find links to supportive websites and helplines through the course or you may want to visit 'Your Local Support & Events', on the One Space website, for local advice or support agencies in your area.

We also recommend that you consider enrolling on a face-to-face parenting course at some point in the future; you will find advice in the programme on how to find parenting support.
